Origami

Grumpy Gertie is striking again. She threatens to hold the baby's birthday secret unless there are updates. So step it up everyone (UNCLE KEVIN, THIS MEANS YOU).

Honestly, we are packing in every fun thing we can think of to end summer. This past weekend, we went to Cleveland to see Jim's sister, Laura and her husband, Jean Marc who are visiting from France. We had a great time visiting. The girls went to the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa. Jim and I went to the botanical garden. Laura and JM borrowed a microbus. All that and we didn't take any pictures. Well, I think there are some butterfly pics on the iphone, but I still haven't mastered that technology, so that is where they will stay for now.

Back home in Indiana, it's hot. Going outside feels like entering a parked car that has been sitting in the sun all day. Hot enough to fry brains. We are staying inside where it is cool and the humidity is only 70%.
Evie has become an origami master. She made this giant swan before dinner tonight.
Then she gave us all lessons to make our own swans. Annalise got help from dad. Annalise has been a handful lately. Almost every night, she has been waking up and screaming and demanding things. It takes us about an hour to settle her down. This is happend a lot this summer and the only thing I can really attribute it to is that she is a 3 year old with the agenda of a 6 year old and is overtired and out of sorts. So tonight, we put her to be at "school bedtime" and will be getting everyone up (even mom) at "school time". Hopefully this also means that everyone can be dressed and fed by 7:45. I'm not holding out much hope, but it's a good trial run as school starts for Evie next Tuesday.
While I laid Annalise down for the night (with lots of threats of losing her blanket and cow if she woke us up again), Jim and Evie made origami frogs that jump.
Aren't they cute?
